The United States Army Officer pay scale determines the size of an officer's paycheck based on a number of different factors. Two officers of the same rank or the same number of years of service can make different amounts of money due to these factors. This article outlines the base pay and ranges.

    The US Army officer pay scale refers to the different ranks by the letter "O" for officer and a number signifying the specific rank. An O-1 represents a 2nd lieutenant. In 2009, an O-1 makes $2655.30 per month if they have less than 2 years of service, $2763.60 for 2 to 3 years of service, and $3340.50 for more than 3 years of service. O-1's who previously served at least 4 years as enlisted or a warrant officer start at $3340.50 per month. This rises to $3567.60 for 6 to 8 years of service, $3699.30 for 8 to 10 years, $3834.30 for 10 to 12 years, $3966.60 for 12 to 14 years, and $4148.10 for more than 14 years.

    An O-2 is a 2nd lieutenant. In 2009, an O-2 makes $2655.30 per month if they have less than 2 years of service, $2763.60 for 2 to 3 years of service, $3340.50 for 3 to 4 years, and $4148.10 for more than 4 years of service. O-2's who previously served at least 4 years as enlisted or a warrant officer start at $4148.10 per month. This rises to $4233.30 for 6 to 8 years of service, $4368.30 for 8 to 10 years, $4595.70 for 10 to 12 years, $4771.50 for 12 to 14 years, and $4902.30 for more than 14 years.
