How to Knit Super-Easy Baby Legwarmers

I wrote this free knitting pattern for all of the beginner knitters out there who want a fun, easy, quick project that they can add their own personality to. They're knit on two needles with only one straight seam to stitch at the end. This is a great project for improving on your rib stitch!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• size 7 straight needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• size 5 straight needles (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• yarn (any color)
• tapestry needle
• scissors

1. Cast on 40 stitches with smaller needles. Switch to larger needles. ROW ONE: Knit 2 stitches, purl the next 2. Repeat this pattern across the row.

2. ROW TWO: Purl 2 stitches, knit the next 2. Repeat this pattern across the row.

3. Repeat rows one and two until work measures 3/4". This is the bottom cuff of the legwarmer.

4. Work in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl the next) until entire work measures 6" from the cast-on edge. Switch to smaller needles again.

5. 

   Work another k2, p2 rib for 1". This will be the top cuff of the legwarmer. Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a 16" tail. Stitch up the sides and weave in the loose ends.

Tips & Warnings

• Once you have this mastered, try knitting striped legwarmers, switching colors every two rows.
• Add crochet appliques and/or embroider designs to give them your own creative flair!
