Knitting is such a useful hobby. You can decorate your entire house on a budget with your own two hands. These napkin rings can be knit in any color to match your theme, and they make great gifts for Christmas, bridal showers, and other occasions! They are a fun, quick project to help you use up leftover yarn.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small amounts of yarn, any color
  • Knitting needles, size 8, 9, or 10
  • Cable needle or 1 double-pointed needle
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

With straight needles, cast on 14 sts. You don't have to leave a long tail, as you will have one to sew the seam when you are finished.

  2. Step 2

    ROW 1: K1, p1, k1, p2, k4, p2, k1, p1, k1. This is your pattern row. The first and last three stitches will create a seed stitch edging. ROW 2: (K1, p1, k1) k2, p4, k2, (k1, p1, k1).
    ROW 3: Repeat row 1
    ROW 4: Repeat row 2

  3. Step 3
Slip two stitches to the front (or back) of work to knit later

  4. Step 4

ROW 6: Repeat row 2. ROW 7: Repeat row 1. ROW 8: Repeat row 2.

  5. Step 5

Repeat rows 1-8 until the length of your work measures the desired diameter of the napkin rings.

  6. Step 6

Bind off and cut yarn, leaving a 12" tail. Stitch the bind off row to the cast on row and weave in loose ends. Make 3 more, or a dozen!

on 3/2/2009 Thanks for making me aware of the glitch. I've been trying to post my patterns so fast that I didn't do a very thorough job of checking them over. I've made the necessary corrections.

on 3/1/2009 I had problems with this pattern as it was written. The first row is spot on, but if you follow the rest of the instructions, you'll come out with a funky-looking ring.Here are corrections to the pattern:Cast on 14 stitches, either using a provisional cast on or a regular one.1. K1, P1, K1, P2, K4, P2, K1, P1, K12. K1, P1, K3, P4, K3, P1, K13 and 4: Repeat Rows 1 and 25. K1, P1, K1, P2, C2F, P2, K1, P1, K1Because you’re ending on a RS row, your next series of pattern repeats will actually total six rows.1. K1, P1, K3, P4, K3, P1, K12. K1, P1, K1, P2, K4, P2, K1, P1, K13 and 4. Repeat Rows 1 and 25. Repeat Row 16. K1, P1, K1, P2, C2F, P2, K1, P1, K1Work the above six rows until you reach the length you want. I worked a total of six pattern repeats in addition to the first five rows.
