Things You'll Need:
- Fabric of choice
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
- Liquid fabric starch
- Utility knife and several sharp blades
- Clean,unused paintbrush
- Wallpaper Roller
- Pail with clean water and large sponge or wrag.
-
Step 1
Measure the walls to determine the amount of fabric you will need. Remember if your fabric contains a pattern you have to allow for pattern match. If you don't understand pattern match ask your salesperson in the fabric department to explain. You will need to eliminate the salvage edge of the fabric before you begin.
-
Step 2
Measure fabric and walls carefully.Prep The Walls. Fill any holes with filler and allow to dry. Scrape any old wallpaper off and sand any peeling wall areas. Your fabric will look as good as the wall it is hung on so prepping is important. Then, with a clean unused paint brush, brush the wall with liquid starch the width of your fabric, typically 32"-36".
-
Step 3
Be sure to get plenty of starch at the seams and corners.Measure twice and cut once. Cut your fabric to the length of the wall with about a half inch overhang. Keeping in mind the pattern match. Press the fabric on the wall and smooth with your hands or wallpaper scraper and a wallpaper roller. Make sure to check edges and corners for a good stick. Continue to do the same, matching pattern as you go, and finding a snug fit at the seams between fabric strips. Trim at the ceiling and the floor with a SHARP utility knife. Use a dampened sponge to wipe off any excess starch.

Step 4
To remove fabric wall hanging just peel away at one corner and wash fabric and use in another project such as curtains, pillows, clothing, or quilts.
