Things You'll Need:
- 3 lbs Moose
- 3 slices of bacon or salt pork
- 1/4c fat or cooking oil
- 1/4c hot water
- 1/2 tbsp vinegar
- 1/2 chopped celery
- 2 carrots chopped
- 2 potatoes chopped
- 1 apple chopped
- Salt and Pepper to taste

Step 1
Cube moose meat into about 1/2 to 1 in cubes.
Heat oil just till it starts smoking a little.
Add together flour, salt and pepper
Dredge the moose meat in the flour, salt and pepper mixture. -
Step 2
Cook the meat in the fat or cooking oil until well browned on all sides, stir and turn frequently but don't cook through, are going to simmer it.
Add the hot water and vinegar to the pot.
Cover tightly and cook until tender about 2 hours adding more water as needed. -
Step 3
1/2 hour before the meat is done, add the remaining ingredients, including the bacon.
Cook until vegetables are done.
Serve with rice and corn bread.
This serves about six.

on 4/26/2009 Oh, now that sounds wonderful! I would love a big bowl full of real alaskan moose stew! I have had Alaskan Bear jerky and that was awesome, I'll bet it tastes much like elk.
