This article is going to teach you how to make a beautiful necklace with something as simple as an abalone shell (or shell of your choice) and some leather.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Abalone shells (or any shell you prefer)from any beach
  • A roll of thin leather.
  • A small phillips screwdriver used for the repair of glasses.
  1. Step 1

The first step is to use a shell that you find to be appealing.Abalone shells are generally pretty easy to find and work with. Wash the shell with non-abrasive soap and water to clean it thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

Next step is to find the thinnest part of the shell and use the tiny screwdriver to very gently twist in the thin part of the shell to poke a hols through it. Be sure not to do it too hard or the shell will break.

  3. Step 3

last and final step is to cut off a generous amount of thin leather from the spool and string it through the hole you just created. Tie the two ends together and now you have a beautiful homemade piece.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure not to have your hand or finger behind the hole you are creating. You could get poked.
