The big night! Oscar night!
The big night! Oscar night!

Lights, Camera, Action! Hollywood's biggest night deserves a party worth it's weight in Oscar gold. Who wouldn't want to rub shoulders with the Hollywood elite on the red carpet? Well, here's an idea on the next best thing to being there: Throw an Oscar Bash!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red Carpet runner
  • Black and Gold balloons
  • Traditional red and white popcorn cups
  • Customized Oscar ballots
  • Gold award statuette
  • Appetizers
  • Drinks
  • Great movie music
  1. Step 1

Plan the guest list in advance and send out invitations at least a week in advance. Encourage those who will attend to play along with the "Hollywood" theme by dressing up.

  2. Step 2

Balloons are a great (and cheap) way to decorate without much fuss. To keep with the theme, decorate your home with tons of black and gold balloons.

  3. Step 3

Buy a "Red Carpet" runner at a party store and line it up to your doorway. Greet guest at the door with inexpensive feather boas for the ladies and plastic top hats for the men.

  4. Step 4

Hand everyone a printed copy of the Oscar ballots and have a contest for "bragging rights" at the end of the night. The winner will receive an Oscar look-a-like statuette.

  5. Step 5

Provide plenty of snacks and candy for your guest with theatre classics such as: Popcorn (served in vintage red and white bags) Goobers, Snowcaps and Raisinets. Serve on gold and black paper plates and napkins.

  6. Step 6

Have Movie music playing in the background. Create a mix and play as guests arrive and during commercial breaks.
