Ever had a favorite hairbrush that you just couldn't get clean using a comb? You can make that same brush as good as brand new with this simple old fashioned technique.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A sink full of hot water
  • 1/4 of "sudsy" ammonia (I use Bo-peep brand)
  • A clean towel to lay the brushes and combs on to dry
  1. Step 1

Fill the sink with very hot water then add the ammonia.

  2. Step 2

Take all your hairbrushes and combs and put them in the solution to soak for a couple of hours.

  3. Step 3

Check the brushes to see if they're clean. Take one of the combs to remove any more hair etc that you might see on them. If they are clean to your satisfaction, move on to step 4.

  4. Step 4

Thoroughly rinse the brushes and combs, taking care to run a comb through each brush to be sure they are nice and clean. No, they won't smell like ammonia when your done. Lay them out to dry on a clean towel and your "like new" brushes and combs are good to go!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be cautious with ammonia, taking care not to get any in your eyes. Make sure to wipe up any spills right away.
