Make Cascarones or Confetti Eggs

Cascarones or confetti eggs are a very popular tradition in the hispanic community during Easter time. We will give you the basic instructions on how to make these fun cascarones also known as confetti eggs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • egg shells
  • confetti
  • dye
  • tissue paper
  1. Step 1

First you will need some egg shells. If you have been saving them from the eggs you cooked, that is great. If not you will need to dispose of the inside of the egg. Begin by cracking the top with a spoon or fork. You want to make a nice little circle just enough to insert the confetti. After you do that take the egg out. You will need to rinse out the egg and leave to dry before your proceed.

  2. Step 2

After your eggs are dry, you can start to paint them. You can purchase the dye at a local supermarket or walmart. You can also purchase regular poster paints. I would recommend the poster paints if you plan to paint certain pictures on the eggs versus one solid color. Once the eggs are dry from being painted you can move on to the next step.

  3. Step 3

Take a spoon and insert the confetti inside of the egg. You may purchase ready made confetti or make it yourself with scrap paper. If you decide to make it yourself, make sure you shred the paper very small. I recommend purchasing the confetti because it is just the right size and it is nice and colorful.

  4. Step 4

After you filled the egg to the top you will need to seal it with a piece of tissue paper. Cut your tissue paper in a square and glue it to the opening of the egg. Elmers glue works great.

  5. Step 5

After you seal the top of eggs allow them to dry overnight. Now your eggs are ready! Have fun and remember to always smash the egg in your hand first before putting on someones head. This just keeps everyone safe. Have fun and Enjoy!
