Painting a room can be a daunting task. One thing some people don't think about is how much paint they will need to paint their room. You will want to figure how much paint you need to paint the room. Buying too much paint can be costly, especially at $30 a gallon. This article outlines how to figure out how much paint you need to paint a room.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First you will need a good tape measure. You will also need a partner to help you extend and hold the tape measure in place.

  2. Step 2

Measure the length of the wall that you are planning on painting. First measure the length. Then measure the width. Write the numbers down.

  3. Step 3

Now take the length of the wall and multiply it by the width. If you measured in feet then you now have the square footage of the the room. If you measured in inches, you will need to divide that number by 144. This will give you the total square footage of paint needed. The paint should read exactly how much it will cover in square feet.
