How to Make Simple Sugar Syrup
A classic simple syrup is the secret behind the sweetness in many mixed drinks. This 1-to-1 ration of sugar to water adds silkiness to sodas and alcoholic beverages. There are two ways to prepare simple syrup: hot or cold. Either way is fine, as long as the sugar is dissolved. The syrup lasts about a month in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Discard when it begins to look cloudy. If you plan to use your syrup in mixed drinks, add a tablespoon of vodka to preserve the syrup for up to three months. Does this Spark an idea?
