How to Make a Club Flyer Using Photoshop

From glee to wood carving to reading to the blind, clubs and associations give people an outlet for creativity, volunteerism and socializing. Promote your club by making a flier with Adobe Photoshop, a graphics program with the ideal text and image tools to create something eye-catching for a bulletin board or direct mail campaign. Tangible fliers may seem a relic of the past when compared to emails and texts, but they offer more real estate for attention-grabbing headlines and graphics.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Adobe Photoshop. Click the "File" menu. Select "New." Enter "MyFlier" in the "Name" box. Enter "8.5" in the "Width" box and "11" in the "Height" box. Select "inches" from both dimensions drop-down menus. Select "White" from the "Background Contents" drop-down menu. Click the "OK" button.

    • 2

Click the "File" menu again. Click "Open." Browse to an image to use for the flier, such as a picture of club members having an event. Double-click the image. When it opens, click the "Select" menu and click "All." Click the "Edit" menu and click "Copy." Close the picture by clicking the "X" in the top-right corner of its tab. Click the "MyFlier" tab and press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste in the picture. This step is optional; you can also repeat the step to add additional images to the flier.

Click the "T" tool, the "Type" icon, on the "Tools" palette. Select a font, text size and text color from the toolbar at the top of the work area. Click the top of the flier, or under the picture if you put the picture at the top.

Type the headline of the flier, such as "First Club Meeting This Tuesday" or "Join our club, have some fun!"

    • 5

Click in the additional space on the flier. Change the text's appearance if desired, such as switching to a new font color in one of the club's preferred hues. Type information about the club, such as meeting dates and times, special events, membership dues amounts, who to contact about enrolling and any requirements such as education, experience and certifications.

Click the "File" menu and click the "Save" option to save the flier.
