Things You'll Need:
- popcorn
- vegetable oil
- a pot
- salt
-
Step 1
Get a pot and put it on medium-high heat. If you have a dial on your stove that goes from 1 to 10, I would recommend putting it on 7. I also recommend using a 6-quart pot or something close to that.
-
Step 2
Pour the vegetable oil into the pot, covering the bottom.
-
Step 3
Pour the popcorn into the pot. You want an even layer that is mostly just underneath the level of the vegetable oil.
-
Step 4
Put the lid on the pot and wait. When the popping slows down, you can take the lid off. When popping has slowed to a rate of one pop every 2-3 seconds, immediately pour the popcorn into a bowl.
-
Step 5
Season with salt immediately. Use a fine grain salt so that it sticks to the popcorn easily. If you're using a large grain salt such as sea salt, you can grind it up beforehand to make it finer. Toss the popcorn in the bowl (this may take a little practice) and season in 2 or 3 phases to coat the popcorn evenly.
-
Step 6
Eat the popcorn!

on 6/21/2009 Delicious this way. Impossible to eat microwave popcorn once you have had it on the stove.
