As you talk with successful freelance writers, they will tell you that is important to always have a notebook full of freelance writing ideas with you so that you are never without an idea to write on. This is one of the best ways to never have to deal with writer's block again. Since the day of the typewriter most people in freelance writing have used a pad of paper to keep their ideas organized. This is not the bet way for you to keep all of your ideas for your freelance writing in one place. You need to bring your ideas organized with the same technology that you keep your freelance writing career going. You need to use online notepads to keep your freelance writing ideas organized.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose one of the many popular online notepad or word processing platforms to keep all of your freelance writing ideas organized. The reason that you want to go with an online version is that you will have access to your ideas even if you are away from your home computer. Google docs is one of the most popular with many in the freelance writing industry. This system also allows you to type up your articles and share them online instantly. Another popular choice is Evernote.

  2. Step 2

Open up a new document every time that you go online to work on your freelance writing. This will not be the document that you are writing your article in. This will be another document that you will have open to type in any freelance writing ideas that you may come across as you surf the Internet. Once the document is open, you can minimize it on your screen. By doing this, you will be able to go about doing any freelance writing activities that you have to do without the notepad of ideas intruding.

  3. Step 3

Copy and paste web sites and other information that you find interesting and would like to save for future freelance writing assignments. Ideas can come from the strangest of places and when you least expect them. This is why you need to always have an online document open to organize your ideas as a freelance writer. You can then organize the ideas that you have copied and pasted into the online notepad into topics to later use for your writing. This is the best way to always have an abundance of freelance writing ideas at your finger tips.

on 2/27/2009 Thank you so much for this. Sometimes I start writing articles on the laptop but then DH takes it to work and I have to wait for him to get home to finish. Or I start on another article on my main computer. Now, I will just use Google Docs instead.

on 2/20/2009 Great idea! I always just make an email draft on gmail for my ideas but it's kind of a pain. I'm going to try your suggestions!
