How to Delete Apps From Your iPhone

The iPhone boasts access to over 400,000 mobile applications available through the App Store on the device. Apps are both free and paid, and they allow users to play games, listen to online radio, calculate tips, find local restaurants and do just about anything else you can imagine. Because many of the apps are free or low-cost, it is tempting to download lots of them. Eventually, you may want to delete some of the apps from the iPhone.

      Navigate to the app you want to delete. With the introduction of folders in iOS 4, the iPhone can hold over 125 apps. To delete an unwanted app, hold your finger on the app you want to delete for a few seconds. The icons begin to shake.

      Press the "X" that appears in the upper-left corner of the app to delete the unwanted app

      Press the home button at the bottom of the device to end the app-deleting process and stop the icons from shaking.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you accidentally delete an app, you can get it back through your backups on iTunes or you can redownload it from the App Store.

  • Be sure to delete only the apps you no longer want.
