Learn step by step how to install and program your new DTV converter box. Link added for more information such as troubleshooting/questions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Converter Box
  • RCA Cables(Optional)
  1. Step 1

Plug in your antenna(rabbit ears) to the antenna in port on the back of the box. Pictured on the top. If you want to this unit can sit vertical just flip out the stand. Make sure the little switch on the back is set to channel 3.

  2. Step 2

Use the coaxial cable that came with your box. Plug it into Output to tv and the other end to Vhf/Cable port on your tv.

  3. Step 3

(Optional) If you have a Vhs or Dvd player that is already taking up the input on your tv follow these steps. Plug in the Output to tv of the converter box to the ANT in of your player. Make sure that the Vhs/Dvd player is turned off when you want to watch tv.

  4. Step 4

ALTERANTE WAY TO HOOK UP. You can also connect the converter box with a set of RCA cables(The red, white, and yellow cables) To do this just color match the cables on the back of the box and plug them into any free input on the back of your tv (see above picture) such as Video 1 etc.

  5. Step 5

After you've plugged in the box to power turn on the tv. Change the tv to channel 3 or if you used RCA cables change it to the input you plugged it into. You can usually do this by pressing either video or input on the remote that came with your tv. When you first turn it on it will ask you for language. Press 1 on the supplied remote to choose English.

  6. Step 6

Now that you have chosen the language it should direct you to channel scan. Use the remote arrows to navigate and press ok to choose. You can also press the number next to the choice. For example if you ever want to do another channel scan (if for some reason you move, etc) you would push menu on the remote, then press 5 for configuration, and then 1 for channel scan.

  7. Step 7

After the channel scan is complete the channel list will come up. Use the arrows to go up and and down and hit ok to watch the selected program. Sometimes your antenna will pick up channels that you may not want. To get rid of these press menu on the remote then press 1 for Channel list. Scroll down to the channel you don't want and then press left till Stored is highlited. Press Ok on the remote and it should say Skipped. Now press menu twice to get back to channel viewing.

  8. Step 8

If some channels come in choppy press menu on the remote then 5 for configuration and then press 4 for antenna meter. Now just move your antenna to get the percentage higher when I started it was 40% but with a little bit of fidgeting I got it to 52. Even at only 52% I always have good signal with it rarely chopping.

  9. Step 9
This is my antenna that works great, As you can see it is very old so like I said before always try your antenna before deciding to purchase another.

Now you are done. Generally you will have more channels then before. You can also press info to see information and rating on the program. If you go to the channel list it will show you whats currently on and what will be on like a tv guide.Post if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.
