Besides communicating via email, many use the Internet to visit web pages. Using building tools and software, you can create a personal web page quickly and easily and begin attracting visitors.

1. Use the visual editor included in website-building software such as Adobe Dreamweaver, SiteCube.com or PhotonFX Easy Website Pro to add a title to your web page. Bold topic headings to set the text apart from other areas. Create topic headings of interest to you and your potential website visitors. For example, you could create topic headings such as "About Me," "Meet My Family," "My Hobbies," "Current Events" and "Art."

2. Fill in your topic sections with interesting tidbits about yourself and your hobbies and passions. For example, under "My Family," you could include humorous information about your most recent family reunion, skiing outing or fishing trip. Let visitors know what you love to do, learn about or places that you want to visit under topic headings such as "My Hobbies" and "About Me."

3. Personalize your website by uploading pictures from your digital camera or scanner. Save your pictures in .gif or .jpeg format. Set your pictures to medium resolution so they appear clear and in full color and to minimize the megabytes they take up on your web page.

4. Add a guestbook by linking to a free guestbook template at websites such as 123Guestbook.com, GoDaddy.com or Bravenet.com. Follow the steps at the guestbook provider's website. Customize the guestbook by adding your website's title, photos, your website's URL or artwork. Copy your guestbook URL onto your web page so visitors can leave comments.

5. Find an inexpensive and reputable website-hosting service to publish your web page. Choose a host that offers features you want to add to your page. Features to look for include low fees, 24-hour maintenance and technological support, blog templates, discussion forums, visitor-tracking stats, and interactive calendars. To keep your hosting fees reasonable, choose a service that charges $10 to $40 monthly.
