How to Create a Blog on a Web Page
Blogs, also known as web logs or personal online diaries, are Internet tools that provide content strings on topics including lifestyle, business, entertainment, education, health and science. Blogs are so popular that businesses such as the New York Times, Consumer Reports, colleges and real estate firms hire writers to create and maintain blogs on their official websites. Professional athletes, government officials and artists also have blogs. With basic writing and editing skills and, more importantly, knowledge and passion for a particular area of study or trend, you can start a blog.

1
Select a blog provider. Look for providers that offer visitors the opportunity to sign up for an email notification when you post to your blog. Other features to look for include the ability for visitors to post comments on your blog, conduct keyword searches for specific posts and access older posts through your archives. Popular blog providers include Blogger, HubPages and WordPress.com (see Resources).
-
2
Design a template. Use colors, fonts and graphics that clearly describe what your blog is about. If you have a blog about the banking industry, you could include a graphic of a bank at the top of the blog. Type a title for your blog in large, bold font. Create an eye-catching title that will prompt visitor interest.

3
Include a calendar on your blog. Websites such as HubPages automatically bold the dates on which post, so you and your visitors can go directly to your most recent entries. You can also post upcoming events such as book signings, speaking engagements and musical performances onto your calendar.
-
4
Add photos. Click "Photos" in your entry to add pictures to your blog. Select "Web" to upload pictures from the Internet. Select "Computer" to upload pictures from your computer's hard drive. Make sure that you upload clear, high-resolution pictures to give your blog a professional appearance.
-
5
Create compelling content. Use facts, statistics, trend reports and personal insight to add credibility to your blog. Write freely and share your voice with a global audience. Include copyrighted or self-created song lyrics, poems and drawings in your blog.
-
6
Publish your blog. Click "Publish" on the blog after you are done writing, editing and reviewing your entry. Wait for the blog to upload and appear published on the screen. Review the entry one last time to make sure there are no mistakes. To correct mistakes, click "Edit," make necessary changes, then click "Publish" again to upload your corrected entry.
-
7
Link to your web page. Copy the URL of your blog's main page by right-clicking your mouse and selecting "Copy." Paste the URL onto a page of your website by right-clicking your mouse again and selecting "Paste."
