How to Make Couch Slipcovers Using Sheets
-
1
Measure your couch from the top of the back rest, over the seat and to the floor. Also, measure the couch from the floor on one side, down over the seat and to the floor on the other side. To each of these measurements, add an extra 10 to 12 inches for tucking.
-
2
Based on the finished sheet measurements available and the measurements of your couch, determine if you will need to seam two sheets together to cover the entire couch and to leave room for tucking the excess in. Choose a flat sheet that has a fairly high thread count or is a sturdy cotton. Flannel sheets should be avoided because they will eventually stretch out of shape.

If you are seaming two sheets together, be sure to double stitch the seam so that it can withstand constant tugging and pulling.
-
4
Drape the seamed sheets evenly over the couch. Where possible, tuck the seamed sections into the couch to hide them. Adjust the cover so that the hem is even all the way around the bottom of the couch.
-
5
Put the PVC pipes (or the rolled-up magazines) deep down into the crevices of the couch anywhere the slipcover is tucked in. Keeping these in place will help keep the excess slipcover material from riding up.
-
6
If you wish, you can use upholstery pins to anchor the slipcover to the back of the couch where they won't be visible.
