How to Make Baby Bibs That Fit Older Children
-
1
Choose a dish towel that is absorbent and long enough to reach from your child's shoulders to his waist.
-
2
Cut two lengths of ribbon long enough to reach from the top edge of the dish towel to tie around the back of your child's neck. Choose a ribbon, such as grosgrain, that is sturdy and will stand up to repeated washings without shrinking or fraying.

3
Sew each ribbon to the top of the dish towel approximately three inches in from the edges. Make sure the ribbons are sewn securely on as the bib will likely go through extensive washings and you want to avoid the ribbon coming loose.

If you haven't picked a decorative dish towel, you may add washable appliqués, or ribbon, to make it more attractive. You can even use fabric paint to let your child decorate her own bib. Avoid additions such as buttons or other tiny decorations since they are choking hazards for small children.
-
5
Tie the bib onto your child. If you have a particularly active eater, you can also add ribbon onto the sides of the dish towel to tie the lower part of the bib around your child's back.
