How To Uninstall AOL Instant Messenger

AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger were the most popular instant messaging applications before the advent of Web 2.0 social networking applications such as Facebook and MySpace. But millions of Americans still prefer AOL AIM to chat and keep in touch with their friends. AOL keeps updating its Instant Messenger freeware with added features, emoticons and menus. Before downloading the latest version, it is recommended to uninstall the old version of AIM.

Instructions

      Click the "Start Menu" button located on the left bottom of the task bar of your computer.

      Scroll to "Control Panel" and click on it.

      Click on the "Uninstall a Program" link under Programs from the list of menus or features displayed in the Control Panel window.

      Scroll down to "AOL Instant Messenger" from the list of programs displayed. Right click on it.

      Click on the "Uninstall/Change" pop out. Click "Yes" once the command asks for permission again to remove. Removing the program will take a few minutes relative to the processing power of your computer.
