How to Remove Limewire

Limewire is peer-to-peer file sharing program similar to Kazaa or Napster. The program works by allowing different end users to connect to one other through the service and download or upload files from one another. Limewire is known to pose several potential problems, including the installation of adware and the possible introduction of other viruses. Considering the variety of options available for file sharing, it is wise to remove Limewire and find an alternative to avoid potential issues.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click on the "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel."

  2. Step 2

    Click "Add/remove programs."

  3. Step 3

    Find Limewire and click on the program to uninstall it.

  4. Step 4

    Go to the program files folder under "My computer."

  5. Step 5

    Delete all folders related to Limewire and the contents of the folders.

  6. Step 6

    Go to "Start" and open the "Search" menu. Searh for Limewire, or just Lime and delete any files associated with Limewire.

  7. Step 7

    Download an adware/spyware removal program online. Install it and run the program. Spybot search and destroy is a popular spyware removal tool. Many antivirus programs also include adware and spyware protection.

  • Using a peer-to-peer network program like Limewire to share copyrighted data is illegal. Activity when connected to a program like Limewire can be tracked.
