You can create Valentine photo cards with your computer and ink-jet printer. The images you create can be printed out on card stock paper, and sized to fit in a standard envelope. After you print out the cards, the backs can be personalized and they can be slipped into an envelope. These cards are in the tradition of the old-fashioned Valentine's Day card, which is not a folded card.

Things You'll Need:

  • Photoshop, or similar digital image editing software Digital camera or scanner Card paper Ink-jet printer Envelope
  1. Step 1

Create a digital image of the person to appear on the photo card. Download the image file onto your computer. This can be done by taking a picture with a digital camera, or scanning an existing photograph.

  2. Step 2

Create a digital image of a vintage Valentine's card. This can be done by scanning an old Valentine's card, and saving the digital image onto your computer. It can also be done by doing a Google image search for Valentine's Day cards, and saving that image to your computer. Be mindful of copyright laws, and search for an image that is deemed public domain.

  3. Step 3

Consider the size of the card you want to create. When sizing the card, you will want the vintage Valentine image to fit on the left side of the card, and the image of the person on the right side of the card.

  4. Step 4

Open a blank image document in Photoshop. Do this by clicking on "File" and then "New." Set the size of the image according to the card size from Step 3. Choose RGB as the color code, in the menu that is open when you create a new image file.

  5. Step 5

Open the vintage Valentine image in Photoshop. Reset the size of the image to the same height as the document you created. Do this by clicking on "Image" and then "Image size."

  6. Step 6

Copy and paste the vintage Valentine onto the blank image. Do this by clicking on "Select" and then "All," which will create a wavy line around the vintage Valentine. Then go to "Edit" and "Copy." Minimize this image by clicking in the upper right hand corner of the image, and then paste the vintage Valentine onto the blank image, by clicking "Edit" and "Paste."

  7. Step 7

Move the vintage Valentine to the desired location on the card. Do this by clicking on the "Move tool" located in the toolbox to the left of the image.

  8. Step 8

Open the photo of the person to place on the Valentine. Repeat Steps 3, 4 and 5.

  9. Step 9

Save your image by clicking on "File" and then "Save."

  10. Step 10

Print out the card. Then put it in the envelope, address and send to your Valentine.
