How Do You Make Firefox 3 Run Faster?

Open a new page in Firefox. In the address bar type "about:config" and hit "Enter."

Select the button that says "I'll be careful, I promise." This brings up a table of data. The left-hand column is labeled "Preferences" and the far right-hand column is labeled "Value."

Scroll down to the entry in the "Preferences" column entitled "network.http.pipelining" and change its entry in the "Value" column to "true."

Find the entry in the Preferences column entitled "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" and change its entry in the Value column to "40."

Find the entry in the Preferences column entitled "network.http.proxy.pipelining" and change its entry in the Value column to "true."

Close this page of Firefox by clicking the "X" in the upper right-hand corner.

Close any other pages of Firefox that are running on your computer, and then restart the program in order for the changes to take effect. You should notice a faster response time after you restart Firefox.

Tips & Warnings
Don't change anything else in your about:config screen. Doing so could cause Firefox to stop working properly or even stop working altogether.

The network.http.pipelining is hard coded to 8 max for the upper limit so setting it to 40 will still have the preference work at 8 max anyways.
