Instructions

How to Get a State Business License in Florida

  1. Step 1

Go to The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website. From the site's home page, click on "Apply for a license." You will receive a message regarding the legality of disclosing your Social Security number. Read this carefully so you will understand your rights. If you agree with this message, choose "I received the above notice and want to proceed to apply for a license."

  2. Step 2

Log into or create an account with DBRP Online Services. You will be given options to log into your DBRP account if you already have one, or to activate your account if you already have a license in the system. If you do not have an account, choose the third option "No, This is my first time using DBRP Online Services" to create your account.

  3. Step 3

Select the license board you will be applying for. You will be asked to select the license board for your license type from a drop-down menu. If the license you are interested in is not available for online registration, you will be directed to the board's home page for further application directions. For those applications that are available online (Real Estate, Pari-Mutuel Wagering, Certified Public Accounting and Professions), continue to step 4.

  4. Step 4

Select the license application you will be applying for. Select the license application from those listed under your chosen license board. You will be notified of any specific requirements (such as electronic fingerprinting) for your license at this point, and information on how to fill these requirements.

  5. Step 5

Complete your demographic information. You will be asked to provide your tax number, name, gender, race, and date of birth on this page. After you have completed this, press continue. On the next page complete the address, phone and email portions of the form and press continue. At this point your account will be activated and you will be given a user ID and pin number.

  6. Step 6

Complete any deficiencies on your application checklist. At this point you will be taken to an application checklist. You will need to complete any deficiencies that are on this list, such as payment for your license.

  7. Step 7

Follow through on any remaining steps as indicated for the license type you selected. These remaining requirements could be electronic fingerprinting or proof of a course completion, depending on the license you are applying for.
