How to Draw Police Cars
Police cars have been featured in action-packed television shows, movies and cartoons. Many famous characters have traversed about in police cars from the serious, like the detectives in Law & Order, to the silly, like the infamous Roscoe P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard. Drawing a police car can be done relatively easily. You will learn to break down a police car into basic geometric shapes and layer details like symbols, sirens and lights on this simple frame. In the example for this article, you will be learning how to draw a police car from the 1970's.

Draw a long cube for the body of the car. For the window and roof of the car, draw a parallelogram that has its top horizontal line shorter than the bottom. Add a long triangle to the right-hand side of the front window to create the side windows. Add the roof with a curved horizontal line that starts at the top left-hand side corner and continues to the back point of the side window triangle.

Draw a thin rectangle on the roof of the car. Add two small parallelograms that have the top wider than the bottom on top of the rectangle. Add three circles in between these shapes. Add small square on top of each parallelogram for the police lights. Split the headlights into two in each side by drawing a horizontal line between them.

Draw a diagonal line extending from the middle top of the grill to the middle of the window. Add two more diagonal lines on each side of the first line. Add a vertical line extending down from the bottom right-hand corner of the front window. Add another vertical line down from the middle of the side window.

Draw small curved lines in the corners of the headlights. Add small vertical lines inside the grill. Draw a horizontal line across the grill to separate it. Draw out the word "POLICE" in capital letters across the front right-hand side of the car. Add two parallel lines running from the end of the word and continuing to the end of the car.

Add a small shield shape on the right-hand door. Add two parallel vertical lines to separate the front side window from the back side window. Draw a small horizontal line from the bottom of each wheel to the body of the car to make the tire look 3-dimensional.
