How to Remove Internet Explorer 7

Internet Explorer 7 is a version of Microsoft's default Windows Internet browser. Internet Explorer 7 is included in all copies of Windows after 2006. Instructions

      Click the "Start" menu button in the lower left-hand corner of the PC's screen.

      Select "Run" in the Start menu that appears.

      Type "appwiz.cpl" in the "Open" dialog box that pops up in Step 2. Click the "OK" button. This tells the Windows operating system to create and list a complete catalog of all programs installed on the computer.

      Select "Internet Explorer 7" in the list of installed programs.

      Click "OK" to uninstall and remove Internet Explorer 7. Depending on the speed of your computer's processor, the uninstall process may take several minutes. Do not close the dialog box until the process is complete. The uninstall process will remove Internet Explorer 7 and revert your operating system's browser to Internet Explorer 6.

      Close the dialog box after the removal process is finished.

      Click the Start menu and choose "Restart" to reboot your computer.

      Verify that Internet Explorer 7 has been uninstalled. Click the Start menu button in the lower left-hand corner of your PC screen and select "Run."

      Type "iexplore" in the "Open" dialog box. Click "OK." This opens the original Internet Explorer program file.

      Click "Help" in the top menu bar of Internet Explorer. Select "About Internet Explorer." A dialog box will appear.

      Review the "About" window. In the middle of the window, Microsoft Windows will display a version number for Internet Explorer. This number is generally several digits long. If the series of digits begins with the number six, you have successfully removed the Internet Explorer 7 browser.
