How to Start a Gas Log Fireplace

A gas log fireplace is a gas burner that gives the appearance and heat of a regular fireplace. The logs in a gas fireplace are covered with fireproof cement.       Put the key into the hole. The key turns the gas on and off for the log fireplace. The hole will be on the left or right side of the fireplace. Once inside, the key will connect to a valve in the wall that controls the gas.

      Turn the key to the right. This will turn the gas on.

      Use a long fireplace lighter to ignite the fireplace. Face the lighter towards the underside of the logs where there is a hole that releases gas.

      Turn the key to the left to turn off the gas fireplace.

      Adjust the amount of gas used. Turn the key further right for higher flames and more heat.

      Take the key out of hole. Put the key on the fireplace mantle or in a visible place so you do not lose it.
