How to Create a Birthday Invitation Card

Birthday invitations don't have to be store-bought. In fact, handmade invitations can be more personal and save money, as well. Birthday party invitations can be made from items that are in your craft supplies. You can also buy a package of card stock at a discount or office supply store for less than a package of commercial invitations would cost. You can easily make a nice birthday invitation for pennies.   • Stamp images (birthday or party themed) Card stock or craft paper Ink pad Colored pencils or pens Glue stick Double-sided tape

      Select a font, and type the wording for the invitation. Be sure to include the name of who the party is for and if it is a surprise or not. Add in the date, time, location and theme of the party. Print out for the number of invitations you need on card stock or craft paper. Cut each card stock or paper piece down to a 3 1/2-by-2 1/4 inch rectangle.

      Stamp your birthday party image on a piece of plain craft paper or card stock that is at least a quarter-inch larger than the rubber stamp.

      Color in the image with pencils or pens. Adhere the stamped piece of paper to a second piece of paper or card stock that is at least a quarter-inch larger than the stamped piece. Repeat for the number of invitations needed.

      Cut the card stock into an 8-by-5 1/2 inch or 8-by-6 inch rectangle. Fold it in half. Cut more cards for each invitation needed.

      Adhere the matted, stamped image to the cover of the invitation with double-sided tape or a glue stick.

      Adhere the wording for the invitation, previously printed on card stock or paper, inside of the card.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can add sparkle to your invitation with a glitter pen.

  • Be sure the adhered items are dry before closing the invitations.
