Step 1
Purchase and download audio editing software to make your ringtones with. There are a number of different programs that you can purchase such as Adobe Audition, Garage Band and Reason. If these seem a bit too expensive, you can check out Audacity, which is a completely free audio editing program. Audacity doesn't have as many features as the others, but it has all you will need to create awesome ringtones.

Open up your audio editing software program. Wait for the program to load up and for the main screen to come up.

Click File and then Open. Locate the song you would like to make into a ringtone and double-click on the file to open it in the editor.

Using the editing software cut a portion of the song to use as a ringtone. You will want to use either the intro or the chorus of the song. Once you've cut this section out, save it as the name of the song and add "ringtone" to the end.

Visit Myxer Tones on the Internet and set up a free account. This site will allow you to up load your homemade ringtones and sell them for a cut of the profits made from each sale. Create your profile and load up as many ringtones as you want.

Create a blog that is relevant to selling ringtones to help spread the word about your ringtones. There are plenty of ways to set up a free blog with hosting sites like Blogger. Set up a blog and write articles about what's happening in the music industry using highly targeted keywords to help you get indexed in the search engines. At the end of each blog entry, include a link to your site where you are selling ringtones. The more traffic you drive to the site, the more you sales you will be able to make.

Create a Google Adwords campaign to help draw traffic to your ringtones blog. Do some research into what keywords most people are using to search for ringtones and create an ad campaign that will target those words. Include a link to your blog in the advertisement. This will draw people into the blog, which will point the way to your ringtones and increase your sales.
