1
Be very quiet when near the pond, or on the pond if you are in a boat. If you are on the shore, it is important to keep noise to a minimum. If rowing a boat, make sure to paddle, or row, quietly. Any excess noise will warn the fish of your presence and hinder any chance you have of catching them.

Feed the fish some bread to lure them to the surface. The more you do this, the more they will recognize your presence with food, and the less likely you will be to scare them off. Tear the bread into small pieces and toss them into the pond. The fish will flood the surface in their efforts to feed on this tasty treat!

Use a net to scoop the fish up as they come for the bread. This is not as easy as it sounds, and will require patience and persistence. It will also require you to be extremely careful that you don't lose your balance and fall into the pond, which is a sure way to scare off all the nearby fish.

Bait your fishing pole with a nightcrawler. Worms are the favorite food for fish, and is the best bait to use for the fish in the pond. After you bait your hook, cast your fishing rod into the pond and relax. If you are able, use a bobber on your fishing line to watch for nibbles and bites. Tighten up your line by reeling it in one or two cycles. Now, just sit back and wait for a bite. If too much time goes by, you may want to reel your line in and check the bait.

5
Throw any caught fish back in the pond for next time, or put them in the bucket for dinner. Make sure the bucket is half full with pond water to hold the fish until you are ready to prepare them. If you choose to throw the fish back, you will ensure a healthy population of fish in the future. Be sure to toss the fish back gently and immediately after releasing them from your net or fishing pole.
