The whole idea of colon cleansing is to clear the body of impacted mucus, fecal matter and dead food that have been lying in the stomach for a long period of time. When this gets eliminated, a reduction in weight can occur.
Eat properly. When doing a colon cleanse, there are some very specific eating guidelines to follow. Food should be high in fiber and easy to digest. Try to eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, and fruit and veggie juices, and stick to primarily raw foods.
Avoid unauthorized foods. Doing a colon cleanse while eating foods that are high in fat, high in calories and are highly processed will defeat the whole purpose of the cleanse. All of these foods can cause indigestion and constipation, and will cause more toxicity in the system. This slows down the evacuation process, therefore blunting weight loss.
Drink lots of water. Water helps to swell up the fiber that is being taken with doing a colon cleanse. This promotes peristalsis, which is a process where the bowel contracts and pushes wastes out of the body. This in turn promotes regularity and weight loss. Try to drink half your weight in ounces of water a day.
Take the supplements. Colon cleansing kits usually come with different pills or capsules that are designed to aid in the cleansing process and help induce weight loss. Take these as directed for most effective results. Some of these include cascara sagrada, flax seeds, slippery elm and psyllium.
Get some exercise. Not only will this help to burn more calories, but it will also help to increase regularity, which will flush more toxins from the system. This can be something as simple as 30 minutes of walking every day.
Visit a hydro-colon therapist. Colonics are a process where a device called a speculum is inserted into the rectum, and warm water is flushed through the bowel. This releases backed-up toxins and matter from the bowel. The average weight loss after just one trip to the colonic table is 2 to 4 pounds.
