Pepper spray was created to be used as a self-defense tool. When you spray the pepper spray in someone's eyes, it burns and they cannot see. This gives you time to escape a dangerous situation. Pepper spray is sold at most grocery and department stores. If you don't have the money to buy some pepper spray, you can make some at home. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Empty body spray container Hot red pepper powder Rubbing alcohol Baby oil Small glass Spoon Liquid strainer

Instructions

      Put 2 tbsp. of hot red pepper powder in a small glass.

      Pour rubbing alcohol in to the glass until it is about one-and-a-half inches high.

      Mix the alcohol and the hot red pepper powder together with a spoon. It will take a minute or two to get it combined without any chunks.

      Pour in 2 tbsp. of baby oil. Mix again with the spoon for several minutes.

      Strain your mixture into an empty spray bottle. You may need a funnel for this step. Place the cap on the spray bottle and you are all set.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your homemade pepper spray will last two weeks. Homemade pepper spray is also effective on dogs--so if a dog attacks you, you can spray it and it will not be able to see.

  • Don't spray anyone with this mixture for fun. It can really hurt and is only to be used as a self-defense mechanism.
