Things You'll Need:
- Sewing machine or hand-held sewer About a yard of fabric Thread Scissors Straight pins Measuring tape
-
Step 1
Purchase a yard of fabric, preferably something washable and durable like cotton or chintz. With a measuring tape, measure the toaster from the bottom left side, across the top and down the right side. Jot the measurement. Now measure the depth of the top of the toaster, from front to back.
-
Step 2
Cut the fabric into a rectangle using these two measurements, adding 1 inch on all sides. This will serve as the main piece of the cover. Now measure the width and height of the toaster's front side. Cut two pieces of fabric the same size (one for the front and one for the back), adding 1 inch on all sides.
-
Step 3
Match a corner of the large piece to a corner of the smaller piece and pin or baste stitch until three sides of the smaller piece are attached. Repeat with second small piece on other side of large rectangle. Allow for ½ inch seams throughout.
-
Step 4
The result will be a rectangular or square-shaped three dimensional cover, depending on the shape of the toaster, that will fit over the toaster. Cover should fit loosely. Stitch the bottom hem for a clean finish.
-
Step 5
Place on toaster, wash as needed.
