How to Remove an Airbrush Tan

Airbrush tans are one of the best ways to get a natural-looking, protective and sun-free bronzing. Unfortunately, since these tans are produced by dyeing the skin, they eventually come off unevenly as your skin naturally sheds cells, leaving you with ugly blotches of pale skin!   • An old washcloth Lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide Body exfoliant, or brown sugar and rolled oats hair net or swim cap

      Exfoliate first. Many of the dyed, dead skin cells will come off naturally when you do this, so start with this step. For the best results, rinse off in the shower Turn off the water and rub yourself thoroughly with a body exfoliating product. Alternately, you can make your own using a mixture of brown sugar and rolled oats.

      Turn the shower back on and rinse yourself clean. Turn the shower off again.

      Apply lemon juice or hydrogen peroxide to a washcloth. If using peroxide, or if using a mixture of both ingredients, be sure to wear a hair net or swim cap, as peroxide can cause discoloration of your hair.

      Wash your body thoroughly with the washcloth. Apply more lemon juice or peroxide as needed. Pay special attention to your knees and belly button, since dye tends to collect in increased concentration in this areas. Hold the soaked washcloth against your skin in these places for several seconds at a time.

      Rinse off in the shower and towel dry. Repeat the treatment later as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have sensitive skin and experience mild discomfort, wait several hours between exfoliating and washing with astringent.

  • If you experience any rash, redness, pain, or allergic reaction to this method, cease immediately and contact your doctor or dermatologist. Do not use peroxide or lemon juice on your face or near any body cavities.
