Unwanted facial and body hair can be unsightly and frustrating. There are a variety of different hair removal methods available, ranging from temporary techniques like shaving and waxing, to long-term solutions such as electrolysis or laser hair removal. It's better, however, to simply stunt hair growth in the first place. There are various things you can do to reduce hair growth on both your face and body. While there are plenty of medications you can take, there are also some natural treatment options.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. Poor nutrition can cause excess hair growth, particularly if you have a low body weight. Without adequate fat, your body lacks insulation so it grows excess hair as a warmth tactic. Consume a nutritious diet, rich in vitamins and minerals. Aim for fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and heart-healthy fats whenever possible.

  2. Step 2

Consume soy products. Soy contains phytoestrogens, plant-derivatives of the hormone estrogen. Since testosterone contributes to hair growth, you can reduce it by consuming this food product that is rich in estrogen-like substances. Soy comes in a variety of different forms, such as edamame, tofu, soy milk and soy nut butter.

  3. Step 3

Try herbal supplements. Kalo has been shown to reduce hair growth. It is available in both pill and liquid form. You can find it in most homeopathic or natural foods stores.

  4. Step 4

Get the hair threaded. Threading is a natural hair removal technique which originated in India. A cotton thread is used to pull hairs out by their roots. If you thread an area regularly, you will notice a reduction in hair growth over time. The hair that grows back will come in finer and thinner after several months. Most salons offer threading services.

  5. Step 5

Apply hair growth inhibitor lotion to the area. These lotions are available over-the-counter in most cosmetic, beauty and drug stores. The lotions contain natural soy extracts which discourage hair growth. While hair will still grow in the area, it will come in softer and finer than it normally would. You must keep using the lotion to maintain the results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have your hormone levels tested by your doctor. Excess hair growth is sometimes a sign of erratic hormone levels.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking any herbal supplement.
