1
Cut three cups of flowers from your garden. Flowers that are in full bloom work best; make sure that no pesticides have been used on the blooms. Cut the flowers in the morning for the most optimum fragrance. If you don't have a garden, purchase the blooms from your local florist or garden shop. Spices and citrus peel can also be used, following the same techniques as for floral oil.

2
Bruise the flowers with a mortar and pestle. You can also place them in a plastic bag and bruise them with a rolling pin. This will help bring out the flower's natural fragrances.

3
Add ½ cup of almond oil to the Mason jar. Add the flowers and seal tightly. Give the jar a good shake as this will further bruise the flowers.
-
4
Place the jar in a room with temperatures between 68 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Shake the jar once every 24 hours for a week.
-
5
Place the jar in a dark place for another two weeks, letting it age and absorb the flower's essence. No need to shake the oil during this process.
-
6
Strain the oil through the cheese cloth, catching the bits and pieces of the flowers. Squeeze the cloth to drain all of the remaining oil from the flowers. Discard the used flowers and the cheesecloth.
-
7
Store your essential oil in dark bottles as light will affect the shelf life. Small dram dropper bottles are available for essential oil storage.
-
8
Add about 20 drops to the unscented lamp oil for a lovely floral aroma, using the dropper from the storage bottle. The amount of essential oil you add is up to you; the more oil, the stronger the fragrance.
