How to Draw Desert Animals
Even though the desert may appear barren and dead, the sandy sea is alive with many animals. Three of the most common are lizards, coyotes and rattlesnakes, all of which are not hard to draw. With a little practice, you can create these animals in all types of poses. But it's best to start them off in a well-known stance.

Make the likes of a lizard. Draw a triangular shape coming off one side of the eyeballs for his snout. Make the bottom line of the triangle have its own small triangle hanging down for a tooth. Draw a slanted line near the tip of the snout triangle that dips down into two sets of feet. Keep the line going up and around, making a point for the tail, and then veering back into a straight line connected to the other side of the eyeballs for his back.

Create a coyote. Coyotes are often seen howling, a fun way to draw them. Draw a line with a notch at the end coming off the bottom of one eyeball. Curve the notch down into another line, slanted, that serves as the bottom of the coyote's body. Make a small rounded shape for his front paw. Draw a semi-circle with a small rounded shape on the end for his back leg, right behind his front paw. Draw a line from his back leg that curves into a rounded hook and then back around and straight up his back. Make two triangles for ears. Draw two straight lines across the center of the eyeballs, right above the pupil, so he looks mellow.

Hook up a rattlesnake. Draw a line from one side of the eyeballs that slants slightly upward. Make that line into a partial rectangle with a jagged bottom edge. Notch the line around to make a bottom jaw, then curve the line in the shape of the snake. Draw another line along the same shape to serve as the other side of his body. Draw three small circles on the end of his tail for his rattle. Make slanted lines on the inner corners of his eyeballs so he looks mean.
