A medicine ball is a useful tool for any athlete. Combining a medicine ball with other weight lifting or plyometric exercises can help you build muscle. Medicine balls are expensive, however, and few realize they can make them with items around the house cheaply.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Milk jug Water or sand Duct tape
  1. Step 1

Drink the milk. Milk has protein which you need to build muscle.

  2. Step 2

Fill the empty milk jug with water or sand. A full gallon of water weighs about 8 pounds. While this is a fine weight to start with, you may want a heavier ball, in which case the sand will be better.

  3. Step 3

Tape the cap securely on the jug.

  4. Step 4

Substitute a volleyball, basketball or soccer ball for the milk jug to make a more durable---but more expensive---ball. You can either pull the air plug out with needle-nosed pliers and fill the ball with sand or water and replace the plug, or cut a slit in the ball and fill that way, taping securely.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not throw the milk jug against a wall or drop it onto the ground. It could explode.
