1
Purchase or gather grapevine twigs. If you don't want to buy the grapevine from a florist or crafts dealer, collect strands of grapevine twig along rural roadsides, where it is often abundant in the wild. Ask the proprietor of a nearby winery to save vine clippings for you. Grapevines are usually trimmed in mid-winter.

2
Decide what length you'll need for your project and trim the grapevine twig to fit.

Choose a theme. Holidays, seasons, interests and location themes are good themes to tackle for beginners.

Make a Valentine's Day decoration from a grapevine twig. Twist your grapevine twig into a heart shape and spray it with craft adhesive, then sprinkle red glitter and tiny iridescent foil hearts on the twig. Dangle large red foil hearts from the twig heart using florist's wire. Hang your twig heart in a window where the evening lamplight will cause it to glimmer and glow.

Liven up your home for St. Patrick's Day. Twist your grapevine twig into the shape of a large shamrock about 2 feet wide and 3 feet long. Wrap the twig loosely with green twinkle lights and use it as a door wreath.

Use the grapevine twig for a little girl's bedroom. Twist and tie your grapevine twig into the shape of a large bow with at least 6 inches of length dangling as bow ends. Choose a length of pretty ribbon or raffia that complements the room décor and entwine the ribbon in and out of the bow, letting the ribbon dangle just about an inch shorter than the twig ends. With florist's wire, attach miniatures of the girl's favorite things, such as flowers, tiny horses, cats or ballet slippers.

Combine decorative with practical in a toddler's room. Hang a length of grapevine twig at least 4 feet high vertically on the wall or back of the door. Glue on large, brightly colored paper numbers that correspond to the height of the twig from the floor up. Print the child's name in large paper letters at the top. Use this as a way to measure your toddler's height and growth through the years, while teaching your child how to recognize his name and numbers.

String a garland of grapevine twig with popcorn and cranberries for Christmas and hang it away from the fireplace. After the holidays, hang the garland outside for the birds to consume the treats.

9
Create a unique gift item for a friend or family member. Wrap a length of grapevine several times around the back of a chair to create a large oval wreath. Secure the ends with florist's wire. Trim several photographs of the person's children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in lace. Punch a hole in the top of the lace and slip ribbon or florist's wire through the hole, then secure the photos to the wreath.
