How to Draw Exotic Cars

Exotic cars are fast, flashy, expensive and rarely seen on the road. Part of the appeal of exotic cars is that they are so distinctive. They are symbols of wealth and prestige. Drawing exotic cars can be done by noting the visual differences in design between regular cars and these expensive beauties. One of the main differences is the complexity of shapes. Most exotic cars could almost be mistaken for jets, with their sharp angles, high-tech spoilers and aggressive designs. In this article the example drawing you will use is the Murcielago Lamborghini. This car is an extreme rarity on the roads and the contrasting angles and shapes make it different from almost any other car on the market.

• Paper Pencil Black ink pen Kneaded eraser

1. 

   Draw a hexagon (six-sided shape) for the body of the car. Make the top left and right sides smaller than the bottom left and right sides. Attach another hexagon shape to the top of the body of the car. The top left and right sides of this shape should be a slight angle pointing to the upper left and right corners of the page.

2. 

   Draw a rectangular shape on top of the body of the car for the front window. Draw an upside-down triangle starting at the top corners of the top hexagon. This triangle should reach the top line of the window. Draw two smaller upside-down triangles in the upper left and right corner of this triangle.

3. 

   Draw two triangles on the upper left and right side of the hood of the car. Draw two larger upside-down triangles directly beside the first two triangles. Add a rectangular shape near the bottom front of the car for the vent. Draw a horizontal line directly above the vent. Add two small rectangles on the bottom right and left side of the car for the front wheels.

4. 

   Add two rectangles attached to the bottom sides of the front window of the car for the side view mirrors. Add parallel lines inside the upper left and right hand corners of the the car. Add a small upside-down triangle above the vent in the middle of the hood of the car. Add a small rectangle in the center of the vent. Draw two circles for headlights above the top left and right corners of the vent.

5. 

   Ink the entire drawing. Let the ink dry and carefully eraser the pencil lines.

Tips & Warnings

• A great way to divide an exotic car you want to draw into basic shapes is to lay a ruler over a picture of the car and mark out all the lines. Afterward you can identify the various shapes the car is constructed from.
