1
Purchase a large traditional clay pot (16-inch or larger). If you want a taller birdbath, buy two more pots of the same size and stack them. Buy the largest clay saucer, which normally go under a pot to collect water drainage, that you can find.

Wipe the clay pots with a damp cloth and let them dry. Paint bright decorations on the pots and saucer with acrylic paints. Choose colors you love. The nice thing about acrylics is they are inexpensive and come in so many colors. If you are stacking pots for height, paint only the rims of the first two pots as that is all that will show. Paint each section a single color or get creative and draw flowers, birds, stars, moon, sun, or what ever appeals to you. If you're not very artistic, use stencils or rub-on decals.

Spray the pots and saucer with clear acrylic spray sealer inside and out after the paint is dry. You will need to spray several coats, letting them dry completely between sprayings. Overnight should do it. Place your pots in your preferred lawn location with the saucer on top. Fill the saucer with water and enjoy all the birds that will flock to your yard.

Tips & Warnings
When the weather gets cold outside move the birdbath inside as freezing temperatures can cause them to crack. This also makes a perfect feeder, just add birdseed instead of water.
