How to Burn Upper Body Fat

Losing weight and feeling better about yourself is the best ego booster there is. When we feel good about ourselves, we tend to carry ourselves a little better. One way to accomplish this is to burn some of the upper body fat that you may have. Burning upper body fat can be tricky but is not impossible. It does, however, take plenty of discipline and willpower.

      Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Exercising is a great way to burn fat all over your body while making you feel better about yourself. Some great upper body exercises to burn fat are walking with arm weights, jogging at least 3 miles and swimming. Swimming is an excellent way to burn upper body fat while helping you develop sleek, beautiful, toned arms.

      Build muscle mass. Building muscle is one of the best ways to burn fat. In fact, about 1 lb. of muscle can burn up to 100 extra calories per week. Building muscle mass also helps increase your metabolism, which in turn helps you lose more upper and lower body fat.

      Do exercises designed to build upper body muscle. When building muscle mass, there are two strength training exercises that some experts believe work best: chin-ups and parallel bar dips. Parallel bar dips help you gain strength in your chest, shoulders and triceps. Place your arms at shoulder width, keeping your elbows at your side at all times. Slightly lean forward and lower your body until your arms are at a 90 degree angle, then push yourself back to the top position. Chin-ups are considered one of the best strength exercises to develop your biceps and upper arms. They even work your abdominal muscles. When doing chin-ups, make sure you have good posture, keeping your shoulder blades pulled back and abs tight to support your back. Start out at about 15 minutes a day until you can build up to more.

      Eat a high protein diet. When building muscle mass to burn upper body fat, your body will require proteins and amino acids. This helps your muscles develop and become healthier. One of the best things you can eat is free-range organic egg whites, as they are filled with amino acids and are a great source of protein. Another great source for protein is wild game meat or organically-fed beef and nonpasteurized dairy products.

      Be dedicated. This may be the most important key to burning upper body fat. You need to decide whether this is the lifestyle you want. You can burn upper body fat by following the newest diet fad, but it's almost guaranteed that you will gain it back plus more and risk the possibility of slowing your metabolism. Eating healthy and exercising are lifestyle choices, not a diet. It's important to realize that and follow through with your plans if you want to accomplish your goal of burning upper body fat.
