How to Charge an iPod Nano Third Generation

The third generation iPod Nano, which comes with a wider display and video capabilities, runs on a rechargeable battery. This version of the iPod Nano is supposed to have a longer battery life than previous models, but after any period of extended use you will need to charge your device in one of two ways, connecting it to a computer or using a power adapter, which Apple sells separately.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • iPod Nano, third generation Mac or PC computer iPod USB cable iPod power adapter (optional)

    Charging with a Power Adapter

  1. Step 1

    Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Nano.

  2. Step 2

    Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into the USB port on the power adapter, which Apple sells separately.

  3. Step 3

    Insert the power adapter into any standard electrical outlet. The iPod Nano's battery will begin charging and should be fully charged in one to two hours.

  4. Charging with a Computer

  5. Step 1

    Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Nano.

  6. Step 2

    Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

  7. Step 3

    Open the iTunes application by clicking on the dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC. Once your computer recognizes that attached iPod Nano, the device's battery will begin charging and should finish in one to two hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you decide to charge your iPod Nano using a laptop, the charging process will drain your laptop's battery quicker than normal.
