Anyone that has ever tried to repair a tent knows how frustrating working with nylon netting can be. Although there are currently many products on the market that claim to be able to bind every type of fabric, when it comes to fusing nylon netting together, there is a quick and easy trick that doesn't even involve gooey glue.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn you soldering iron on the highest setting.

    • 2

Carefully run the iron over the outer edge of both pieces of netting until they begin to melt and become sticky.

    • 3

Put one piece of slightly melted netting over the other, creating a seam, and press with a piece of wax paper, towel or an oven mitt until the seam cools.

    • 4

Give the seam time to harden before testing it by tugging slightly on the outer edges.

    • 5

Once the netting has cooled, you may reinforce your seams with fabric glue, if you like.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may also glue netting with fabric glue, but it may not hold as well. If you try this approach, sew fabric strips around the outer edges to help secure the bind.

  • Always wear proper safety goggles and gloves when working with soldering equipment.
