Refilling empty ink cartridges instead of buying new ones can be far less expensive, which is why many people choose to do so. Here is a guide to refilling your Epson TO481 ink cartridge.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Epson TO481 ink refill kit SK168 universal resetter Bottom fill adapter Rubber gloves Paper towels
  1. Step 1

Put on the rubber gloves and place the empty cartridge on the paper towels, which should be on a flat surface. Remove the label, revealing the fill hole.

  2. Step 2

Take the syringe that came with the refill kit and fill it with the appropriate colored ink. This is done by pushing the syringe plunger down, placing the needle into the ink bottle and lifting the plunger. Then, place the needle into the fill hole of the cartridge and slowly fill the cartridge. Be careful not to overfill.

  3. Step 3

Attach the bottom fill adapter to the syringe. The bottom fill adapter is used to take out a little ink and any air that could affect the ink flow.

  4. Step 4

Attach the bottom fill adapter to the exit port, which is located on the other side of the cartridge. Take out about 1 cc of ink.

  5. Step 5

Let the now refilled cartridge sit for about an hour. After the hour, attach the chip to the SK168 universal resetter by aligning the chip on the bottom of the cartridge with the pins on the resetter. Once attached, a light will come on for a few seconds. When that light begins to blink, the chip is reset. Upon completion, place the cartridge back into the printer.
