How to Design & Print Your Own Wedding Invitations

Use the photo program installed on your computer for ideas. Any photo program can be used, but these steps will highlight Microsoft Picture It!.

Choose "Create a Project" from the Microsoft Picture It! menu.

Select "Cards," then wedding.

Choose any half side-fold design.

Open your Internet browser and search Google images for a wedding-related photos or designs, choosing one that matches the colors and/or theme of your wedding. If Google doesn't have any photos or designs you like, you can always search the clip art in the program you're using to design your own wedding invitations. Another option would be to search through photo websites such as Flickr.

Replace the design on the front of the card in your photo program with the photo or design you found during your search, and then resize that photo or design to your liking, but center it on the front of your wedding invitation.

Select "Inside Spread." This is where you'll place your text, which can be a short message along with any other details such as RSVP, registration information and the announcement that a reception will follow.

Not sure what you'd like your short message to say? Search the Internet for greeting card retailers such as Hallmark. Once there, browse through the messages in their wedding invitations, select the one you like and type it on the inside right of the wedding invitation you have open in your photo program (see photo for example). You can do this since you're designing your wedding invitations for your own personal use and not to sell. If you were designing them to sell, you would not be able to do this because it would be a copyright violation.

Insert the additional details of your wedding under the short message you selected and typed on the wedding invitation (again, see photo for example).

Leave the back side of your wedding invitation blank or place anything you'd like there.

Save your wedding invitation to your hard drive, and then print the number of wedding invitations you'll need to send.

Tips & Warnings
When typing the message on the inside of your wedding invitation, keep the text toward the center of the invitation. Instead of searching for a photo or design, you can always place a photo of the bride and groom on the front of the card. For the best quality when printing your wedding invitations, choose the best settings during the printer setup.
Don't place any of the text on your wedding invitation too close to the edge or it could be cut off during printing.
