Draw Pictures of Pokemon

Pokemon collectible characters appear in trading cards, toys, video games and an animated television series. Owing to their similarities in shape and style, drawing Pokemon characters uses techniques that apply to all Pokemon. For instance, Pokemon characters generally have large eyes, big heads and simplified bodies. In this article, the Pokemon character Squirtle the Turtle serves as an example to illustrate Pokemon drawing methods that can apply to all Pokemon drawings. Note how simple geometric shapes like circles and ovals create this character.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a circle for the head. Attach a larger oval to the bottom of the circle for the body. Add oblong ovals for the arms and legs. Place the arm ovals near the top of the body oval. Place the legs on both sides of the large oval's bottom.

    • 2

Add small rounded triangles slightly toward the left and right sides of the head to serve as eyes. Add the mouth with a line that starts under the left side eye, curves down and then back up again as it ends below the right-side eye. Draw the nose with two diagonal dashes between the eyes and just above the mouth.

    • 3

Add the turtle shell with two curved parallel lines on the right side of the body oval. This acts as the rim of the shell. Leave room for the back of the shell. At the bottom right-hand side of the body, draw the tail with an oval shape that starts small and expands into a wide circle.

    • 4

Draw the plates on the torso. Start by drawing a horizontal line across the top of the torso. In the middle of this line, draw a vertical line that goes all the way down the torso. Draw a triangle at the base of the torso and on the left and right sides of the torso. Add a horizontal line in the middle of the torso. This line should connect the left- and right-side triangles.

    • 5

Add fingers to the hands with three triangles on each hand. Do the same for the toes. Add a curly Q to the tail with a line that swoops to the left and then curves in on itself to the right. Add pupils to the eyes with quarter-moon shapes at the base of each. Add a small oval at the top of each eye to show light reflection. Add eyebrows with curved lines just above the eyes.

    • 6

Erase any unnecessary overlapping lines. Ink the entire drawing. Let the ink dry, and carefully erase the pencil lines. Darken in the eyes, and you are finished.

Tips & Warnings
