- A USB or standard mini plug microphone

Open Adobe Soundbooth by clicking on its icon. Mac users will find the icon in "Applications." PC users will find the icon in the "Programs" area located under Adobe CS4.

Click the menu item titled "File" in the top left portion of the program and move the mouse over the "New" option. Click on "Empty Audio File."

Select a "Sample Rate of 22050" from the "New Audio File" dialogue box and click "OK."

Click the red “Record” button at the bottom of the screen to bring up the Record dialogue box.

Click the red “Record” button in the Record dialogue box and begin speaking, singing or playing music into the microphone. Click the "Stop" button to end the recording.

Click the menu item titled "File" in the top left portion of the program and click "Save." Type in the name of the recording and click "Save" again.
