How to Make Your Own Scent Eliminator
Products like Oust and Febreze have become extremely popular because they are said to eliminate odors and not just mask them. Masking odors can make things worse, because you then have two scents joining forces to smell up your home. If you don't want to spend the money to buy products to get rid of your at-home odors, you can make them yourself. Does this Spark an idea?

- Hydrogen peroxide Distilled water Baking soda Spray bottle Mixing bowl Acorns Pine needles Pot Unscented soap Borax

Pour 16 oz. of water and 16 oz. of hydrogen peroxide into a mixing bowl. Add 1/8 cup of baking soda and mix thoroughly. When the mixture settles, add it to a spray bottle and spray in the required areas.

Gather 3 lbs. of acorns from your backyard and boil them in a pot of water until they become soft. Add a handful of pine needles and boil for another 25 minutes. Strain the pot so that only the liquid ends up in the spray bottle. Spray where you need odors eliminated.

Add one drop of unscented soap to 1 gallon of distilled water. Combine with 1/2 bottle of peroxide and 3 cups baking soda. Let the mixture sit for 2 days, then pour in to squirt bottles. Spray wherever you want to eliminate an odor.

Mix 1/2 cup Borax and 1/2 cup baking soda and store in a plastic container. Whenever you need to eliminate scents from your laundry, just dump this mixture in to the washing machine, and your clothes will be scent-free.

Vinegar is great at eliminating odors, but it may leave a scent of its own.
